Fall Protection for tools

Ensuring workers are safe from heights takes more than just keeping them from falling. Their tools also need to be kept safe at height. Fall Protection for tools makes work environments safer and more productive by drastically reducing falling objects. Stauffer stocks a variety of products from 3M™ DBI-SALA® to help keep all your tools secure.

Types of Fall Protection for tools

D-Rings, Quick Wrap, and Quick Spins

D-rings, quick wrap, and quick spins work together to create anchor points for tools that do not have pre-drilled holes. For example, quick spins are ideal for tools that weight no more than 1 pound like screwdrivers or pliers. For tools weighing between one to five pounds, quick wrap tape in combination with D-rings should be used.

Watch this instructional video on how to attach D-rings to tools using Quick Wrap.

Heat Shrink

Heat shrink is plastic tubing that is designed to contract to tools when heated. To properly attach heat shrink to tools use a heat gun and make sure the tool is clean of debris. Heat shrink is meant to be used over D-rings to properly create an attachment point for tools.

Tool Lanyards

Tool lanyards are engineered to prevent tools from being dropped at heights. There are a variety of lengths and load weights all designed to handle any tool. If a hammer, a wrench or a battery-operated drill fall from a height it can cause serious harm. Consider that a 5lb tool dropped at just 6ft can generate over 300lbs of force.

Tool Holsters

Tool holsters are pouches that connect to tool belts and are designed to be used with popular hand tools like pliers and wrenches. Holsters are offered that can accommodate nearly any hand tool. For example, single tool holsters, and double tool holsters are available.

Pullaway wristbands are designed for those who work around rotating or moving equipment. They feature an elastic strap that conforms to the wearer's wrist size automatically. Wristbands are used to secure hand tools under 5lbs from accidental drops. It is recommended to never exceeded the load capacity of a wristband.
